Maxim Behar: Business and politics must play on the same team

Communication expert Maxim Behar took part in the talk show “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS, where together with journalist and UNWE lecturer Vesislava Antonova, he discussed Bulgaria’s current political landscape, its impact on business, and the quality of public communication between politicians.

When asked whether the current political situation could be described as “stable chaos,” Maxim commented:

“I personally don’t see chaos, because I look at things from a business perspective. Every European country has its own political turbulence, but in Bulgaria, it’s still possible to do good business. What concerns me most is the increase in social security contributions — it could bring part of the payments back under the table.”

He added that in recent years, salaries in the private sector have risen by 40 to 80%, which shows a positive trend in the economic environment.

During the discussion, Behar emphasized that the lack of dialogue and respectful tone among politicians negatively affects both society and the business climate:

“Politicians communicate through the media — often arrogantly and aggressively. People feel this and lose trust. We need more dialogue, more respect, and mutual understanding.”

Another topic raised in the studio was the Ministry of Finance’s campaign to promote the euro, which sparked criticism.

“Five companies were invited, most of which I’ve never heard of. Professional organizations were not involved. What’s most concerning is that the tender was announced at the very last moment — just two months before the planned introduction of the euro. It’s unacceptable, because there’s no way to create a quality and timely campaign this way.”

Maxim underlined that for such important national projects, business should be involved from the very beginning to ensure transparency and better results.

Maxim Behar once again reminded that the success of a country depends on good communication between politicians, business, and society. Only through transparency, professionalism, and mutual respect can a stable environment be built — one in which the economy grows and people trust the institutions.
